If I were to put the EWQL Orchestra on an external SSD, and stream the samples, would it still be a burden, or is it possible, because I have heard stories of people with limited setups still working wonders with it.Īgain, EWQL seems like the most reasonable decision as it still seems to be (or used to be) a staple in many composer's templates, It seems pretty cost effective, and the Platinum Plus version already comes preset on an SSD.Īlso, I am aware of the ComposerCloud, but I was hoping to look into something more permanent in the studio (and it wouldn't run off of an SSD)ĮDIT: This edit is being made long after the thread died, but if anyone so happens to come across this dead thread looking for advice, this is a great place, lots of great comments, however, I also want to add that nearly 2 years later, I will take back a lot of these statements I made.

Here are my specs, I'm using a Late 2013 Standard IMac with an intel i5 core, with 8 gb of ram (which cannot be upgraded), and using Logic Pro X. I have heard some not too good things about EW though, mainly that their instruments are hard to install, the play engine is a pain, and it is a resource hog.

Which is where EastWest comes in, and I settled on the QL Symphonic orchestra over the Hollywood Orchestra, mainly because I could get the Platinum-Plus version, with all the features for less than $700 (with my sweetwater student discount), where as with the hollywood orchestra it would cost more to get the full orchestra, as well as the solo instruments. Secondly, I do not want to go with VSL for the same reason, It would cost a lot of money to get a full orchestral experience. And I don't want to try to work with the free kontakt player when there are other alternatives. Being a high school student, I do not want to drop both the money for kontakt and an orchestral library at the same time, as it is just too much money. But I have a few limitations, first, I am trying to stay away from Kontakt libraries at the moment.

I have read up on libraries and know all the big players, cinesamples, spitfire, 8dio, etc. I don't really care for Garritan instruments and, I really don't like the sound of some of the baselines Garritan-Finale Sounds.

This is the most powerful vocals solution available.Hello! I have been composing for a few years in Finale, but upgraded to Logic Pro X, when I switched, I learned that the you can open the virtual instrument from Finale (The Garritan Personal Orchestra, among other Garritan Libraries) inside Logic Pro, and that has worked for a while., and I feel it is time that I upgrade to a legit library. The phrases menu is customizable so you can add your own phrases to WordBuilder for quick and easy access. The phrases have been optimized for each Choir. This is a real time saver for those on a tight deadline.

This revolutionary software also includes a pop-down menu that includes popular pre-built phrases that you can load instantly. Wordbuilder, now built into EastWest's Play software, is the word building software that enables Symphonic Choirs and Symphonic Choirs Expansion users to type in words for the Choirs to sing. The Symphonic Choirs Expansion (Voices of the Apocalypse content) was recorded separately, at 24-bit resolution with a single mic position. This eliminates the need for artificial reverb.

By selecting different mic positions, users can mix these sounds together to create any kind of natural ambience their project requires. To achieve the feel of a live concert hall performance, each instrument and section was recorded with three mic positions: close, stage (conductor‘s position) and hall. The Choirs were recorded in the same concert hall, by the same team as the EastWest Symphonic Orchestra and blend perfectly with EWQLSO. In addition, the Platinum edition (Gold edition has one mic position and is 16-bit) is the first 24-bit Choir virtual instrument to include three simultaneous stereo mic setups (close, stage and hall), so users can mix any combination of mic positions to control ambience. Imagine typing words into your computer, in any language, and hearing a world class Symphonic Choir sing those words in any key(s) you play "live" on your keyboard controller! Well imagine no more, that's exactly what this revolutionary "award-winning" virtual instrument does. If you absolutely, positively must have the most natural and realistic choir (and you can’t afford to hire one), Symphonic Choirs is really the only choice, a clear Key Buy. Nothing else quite delivers the control, sonic quality, and flexibility that SC offers. Symphonic Choirs is an ambitious and powerful instrument capable of recreating the sound of a real choir with an incredible degree of realism.
